Our sympathy and prayers go out to our former Executive VP and Dean, Dr. Charles Faust, and his
entire family. His mother, Sister Allene Faust, went home to be with the Lord at 1:00 a.m. December 7th. She was in the hospital at the time.
Services will be at Waller funeral Home here in Oxford. Visitation will be on Friday, December 9th, from
12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow immediately.
Sis. Allene has been a faithful member of South Lamar Baptist Church since March of 1974. She was Grandmama to the whole church. Earlier this year she was preceeded in death by her husband,
William. There are ten children, 32 grandchildren, and 56 great grandchildren.
I know that everyone will be praying for this family as they adjust to an extremely difficult year. They
have precious peace in the Christian testimony of each parent and can look forward to seeing them in
heaven one day.
For those who want to send cards, Brother Faust's address is P.O. Box 2364, Verona, MS 38879.
Grandmama, you will be truly missed. Thanks for the love you always gave, for your faithfulness, and
for your Christian testimony!
Your family, South Lamar Baptist Church

Thank you Lord!
We just celebrated America's day of Thanksgiving this past week. However, as God's
children, we have so much to be thankful for every day.
We are so happy to be able to report that Brother Clayton Shook and Sister Jean are much
improved. They have been able to attend church services three straight Sundays, and this past
Sunday they sang a special, entitled "What A Day That Will Be," to which Brother Shook
wrote two additional verses. He will also be preaching very soon. They thank everyone for the
prayers that have been lifted up on their behalf.
"Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year!"
From Everyone at Oxford Baptist Institute!

BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH
201 Filmore Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70124
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We here at Bethel want to thank each and every person and church that has supported this work, or is currently supporting this work with financial assistance, physical labor, and most importantly, with prayers. We have come a long way on the rebuilding of our church facility, but there is still a lot to be done before we can get the permit to occupy it. We know that everybody is struggling in the current economy and funds are tight, but we also know that God didn't bring us this far tohave us stop now. It's been over five years and it becomes discouraging sometimes because we have not been able to complete this building.
We have compiled a list of things that the Fire Marshall said had to be done before he would give the approval. Then we have the rest of the things to do to finish the building. Some we have bids on, some we do not. They are:
Handicap Ramp $12,000.00
Piano Repair $5,000.00
Painting Exterior $15,000.00
Dirt Fill $3,500.00
Sod
Sidewalk/Driveway $12,000.00
Church Sign $7,500.00
Brick Step-down on porch $1,200.00 (added by the State Fire Marshall)
Construction Loan $60,000.00
Rear Staircase $2,000.00
Organ (our cannot be repaired)
Porch Entrance (Columns)
Vents on Cinder Blocks
Finish on Cinder Blocks
Window Sill Upstairs
Computer Network
Attic - Fireproof Flooring
Shelving for Bathrooms
Non-Skid coating for outside stairs
Base Boards on 2nd floor
Hardware on Doors on 2nd floor
Doors to enclose A/C units on 2nd floor
Moving the Thermostat to the Fellowship Hall
Inside Screens on upstairs windows
Inside Screens on stairway windows
Gutters
Non-Skid Tiles for Porch
LABOR FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE
It has been reported in the daily newspaper that the Lakeview community is one of the neighborhoods that is coming back strong, because of the young couples buying and moving in. That means to us more people to tell about Jesus and seeing more souls saved. With your prayers, financial help, and labor we will see this church become the lighthouse for Jesus that it was in the past.
We are asking once again for your support. We are unable to complete this project without the help of God's people. Please pray about this work and the financial needs. We KNOW that God is in it.

RIGHTS VS. FREEDOMS IN HUMAN REPRODUCTION by Ray O. Brooks |

The following article by Brother Ray O. Brooks appeared in THE BAPTIST MONITOR (October 2011 Issue).
RIGHTS VS. FREEDOMS IN HUMAN REPRODUCTION
By Ray O. Brooks
After spending much ink in chastising Govenor Perry and the Texas Legislature, editorial writer John Foster concluded by setting forth this statement. "A good question for the govenor to answer is whether he believes women have the intelligence to determine their own reproductive rights."
Our Creator God set all the rules for the propagation of the human race. All reproductive rights are contained within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman and every conception within these bounds is holy before God and deserving of a live birth, to be loved and nurtured to maturity. While many claim to have freedom of choice, no woman, no man, no doctor, no government hs the right to determine any other end to any fertilized human egg which is in fact a human being in the embryonic stage.
God created man as an intelligent being with the ability not only to receive instructional information, but also to give serious thought to that which has been received and make reasoned decisions. Each person has the freedom to make his own decision even when he makes the wrong decision. To illustrate, I say, "You exercise your freedom to drive past a school bus unloading children and you will soon discover you did not have the right to do this." Why? Because there is a law.
Woman, men, doctors, legislators, judges, and lab technicians have the freedom to do as they wish with all the ins and the outs of the human reproductive process, but time will soon reveal they had no right to go against the laws set forth in God's Word. The law requiring a doctor to perform a sonogram before an abortion is an attempt to prevent the killing of a human being. God will have the last say, and what He will say to all who have participated in the destruction of human life will not be a pleasant thing to hear. |
